A City Habitat

Strolling down North Bartlett Avenue as my soundwalk came to an end I came across the voices of three different types of living creatures, the inhabitants of a neighborhood enjoying a nice, cool October night. Witness the sounds of an urban habitat here.

Walking in "The Wall"

Walking down the corner of North Farwell and North Cambridge I noticed a Walgreen’s outlet and decided to quickly walk in and out and capture the audio of the indoors, which of course offered a completely different array of sounds one might find outdoors. Visit the shopping center here.

Gettin' Back to Work

Newhall St., a nice community with beautiful houses and fall trees, I discovered a couple men beginning work on a project of their own, a roofing project, in the quiet residential area, the arrival of half of the crew signaled by the sounds of a utilities truck. Capture the sounds here.

Above the Clouds

I heard a helicopter fly overhead as I was sauntering down E Lafayette St. and quickly turned on my recorder as the chopper, probably an affiliate of the local news station reporting on traffic conditions, sat above me in the sky. Lean your ears skyward here.

The Brew City

Milwaukee might be best known for their long history of beer brewing and for their professional baseball team, affectionately named the Brewers. I walked past an overly crowded bar, Pallermo Villa Restaurant, with fans spilling into the street shortly after a clutch late season victory by their beloved Brewers, consuming some fine fermented beverages in celebration. Join the party here.

Drift 1 Strategy

My drift strategy consisted of two strategies. I set out for a 3-3 1/2 hour walk. For the first hour and a half, I followed the pattern of second left, first right, repeat. By the time I reached the corner of E Brady St and N Farwell Ave an hour and a half had expired and I then altered my direction and began walking in a general homeward bound direction with the newly adopted strategy of rolling a dice. If I rolled 1 or 2 I turned left, 3 or 4 was a right, and a 5 or 6 was straight.

Drift 1

Below is the map of Drift 1 which I completed in Milwaukee, WI. In the map marks my movements over the three hour walk as well as the soundmarks.
